detriment

is the inevitable unavoidable?

what is a bad event? is it only one that is detrimental to oneself or some other individual or is it simply one that brings no advantage to another. Is the throwing of a stone into the air a bad event? or simply an event. why is the destination of a stone important? whether it strikes the head of a man or of a tree, why is one more valuable than another when the repercussions of hitting either would, in a sense, be the same.

so what is my own detriment? why is it not just a falling into place of events that were predetermined, predestined by someone else? after all, they were inevitable, were they not? like the putting of fire to wood, like the dabs of paint from brush to canvas. why do they have an effect on me, and not on some other thing or person.
